Welcome to deladyjayne.com. What is deladyjayne you ask? I’m sure you have all heard of
Rachael Ray and her
Rachael-isms. One of them,
EVOO
(extra-virgin olive oil) is being added to the next Oxford American College Dictionary edition. The
entry will read: “EVOO: abbr. extra-virgin
olive oil.”
How cool is that? I guess this is causing quite a stir. How is that for some cooking humor? I’m sure you just want to know my take on the subject. I’d agree Rachael didn’t invent
EVOO, she just popularized it. And E V O O is an abbreviation. For it to be an acronym you would have to pronounce it as a word, e-voo. While
I am not a die hard fan, sorry Rach, I have enjoyed watching
30 Minute Meals.
I do have many of her recipes in my archives and I have tried several
of them. I have noticed that she says “evoo, that’s extra-virgin olive oil" quite a bit. So I have to ask, what is the point of using an abbreviation
to save time if you are going to explain it when you use it?
Back to deladyjayne, it is a De-ism if you will that I came up with a couple years ago. I have used Lady Jane as my pen name for 21 years now. After
finding it ever popular I changed it to Lady Jayne. I was still trying to think of something a little more unique and came up with deladyjayne,
meaning ‘of Deanna’. Wouldn't Senior Reindl be proud? I certainly don’t expect to be getting any entries in the dictionary but now you know
the rest of the story.
Now what about this site? I got the idea to do a portal site from the Penokie’s. I was looking at their
website that they changed to
a portal page and thought that was a good idea. Now that I have several urls of my own that I am working on I thought I should register one for a portal too
so people only have to remember one site to get to all my sites. Thank you John and Amy, I hope you don’t mind.
Be sure and bookmark this page for your future reference. I'm sure you will want to check back for updates. All my links are listed below. Do you have any
